Electromobility - Tips & funding programs 2021

January 2021

Want to get started with an electric car in 2021 and take advantage of subsidies?

Are you interested in purchasing an electric car and want to install a charging box at home?

Are you planning to introduce e-mobility in your company?
Do you want to enable your employees or customers to charge while they are with you?
Do you need to offer your tenants a way to charge their electric car?
Do you have a photovoltaic system and want to run on your own electricity in the future?

Are you unsure how best to proceed and what you need to consider?

We have been "electric" for over 2 years and have gained a lot of experience. We will work with you to develop a suitable concept consisting of vehicle, charging technology, load management, billing, etc. And of course we will check possible subsidies and process them for you with little effort.

To get you started, we have put together a small overview of the most important programs.

Environmental bonus to promote electric cars

The Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) has updated the funding conditions of the federal program as of November 16, 2020.

Most important innovations:

  • staggered subsidy rates for shorter leasing periods
  • Possibility to combine the environmental bonus with other funding programs (e.g. at state level)
  • Increase in the innovation premium (doubling compared to the previous directive)

Who is eligible to apply and how much will be funded?

The funding can be applied for by private individuals, companies, associations, etc. if the vehicle is registered to them in Germany.
The BAFA maintains a list of eligible vehicles, so a quick check is possible.

The innovation bonus is up to €6,000 (for a net list price of less than €40,000) or €5,000 (for a net list price of more than €40,000) when purchasing a battery-electric or fuel cell vehicle. When leasing, the subsidy depends on the term.

The purchase of externally rechargeable hybrid electric vehicles ("plug-in hybrid") is subsidized with €4,500 (for a net list price of less than €40,000) or €3,750 (for a net list price of more than €40,000). The leasing subsidy is again dependent on the term.
